Lotto Central Federation League – Round 1
We had two matches on Saturday to kick start our Lotto Central Federation League for 2023 and both ended in close 2-1 results. Thirsty Whale Napier City Rovers Feds celebrated their 50th Anniversary with a 2-1 home win at Bluewater Stadium against newly formed team Bayleys Palmerston North United, Harry Mason and Jack Sanko scored for Rovers with Patrick Smither getting the consolation goal for United. Newly promoted team Shani’s Taradale AFC travelled to Arena Manawatu to take on Watson’s Integrity PN Marist FC and it was Taradale that also won 2-1 to make in a double for the weekend for Hawke’s Bay clubs over Manawatu ones. Zac Madsen plus Ayden Jones got the goals for Taradale with Dylan Bary knocking a late one in for Marist, ALH Limited Gisborne Thistle had the Bye in the opening round.
Women’s Federation League – Round 1
We only had one match in the Women’s Federation League to open the season with and it was a Taranaki derby with Moturoa AFC Feds coming out on top 4-0 when they hosted ATLAS NP Rangers AFC. Fernando Toscani and Chantal Williams both getting braces for Moturoa while the match between Havelock North Wanderers Women’s Feds and Palmerston North United Women’s Feds was postponed with OneStaff PN Marist Women’s Reserves having the Bye.
Lotto Men’s Federation Cup – Round 1
Four Round 1 matches were needed in the Lotto Men’s Federation Cup that got played on Easter Monday. GJ Gardner Homes Whanganui Athletic Reserves won a seven goal thriller 4-3 when they hosted Palm City Motor Inn Port Hill United with Tre Dejohn netting a double for Athletic and Art Woodley-Hanan a double for United. A hat trick from Liam Percy-Fysh was the difference for Shani’s Taradale AFC as they defeated Rampage Fitness FC Western 5-2 at the neutral venue of Massey University with Ben Furze getting a consolation brace from the penalty spot for Western. LongChill Takaro AFC hosted Havelock North Wanderers Big Barrell Premiers at Ashhurst Domain and it was the home side of Takaro that ran out 4-2 winners with the goals being shared around. In the final game Pak n Save Tamatea Napier Marist won the local derby 2-1 over Jarks Cityside Western Rangers Premiers at Park Island with all the goals being scored early in the first half.
Taranaki Women’s Premiership – Round 2
We had only one match played over the weekend in the Taranaki Women’s Premiership and it was Gravity Sign & Design Studio Inglewood AFC that won 3-0 when hosting Offshore Plumbing Services Waitara SC thanks to a brace from Katelyn Stewart. Tungsten Legal Stratford AFC defaulted to Equipfix Peringa United Ladies, Worley Woodleigh FC Women defaulted to Hipp Accounting Ltd Hawera FC, HEL Rimu NP Rangers Development defaulted to NPGHS with the match between Moturoa AFC Women’s Prems and Eltham AFC Ladies Premiership being postponed. Kaitake FC Women had the Bye.
Yorb Taranaki Men’s Premiership – Round 2
After two rounds of the Yorb Taranaki Premiership we have three sides still with 100% records and three with no points at all. TMT Building Ltd Moturoa AFC continue to lead the pack after they won 5-0 away to Hawera Kitchens Ltd Hawera FC with the goals being shared around. NZ Forestry Peringa United Premiers came from behind to defeat Rampage Fitness FC Western 4-2 thanks to a brace from former Western player Marcus Powell-Cullingford. In the final match Peggy Gordon’s NP Rangers AFC won a hard fought match 2-1 over Premier Heating NPBHS 1st XI.
Taranaki Men’s Championship – Round 2
Inglewood AFC Championship are sitting on top of the ladder as they dispatched Trafficr NP Rangers AFC 7-0 at home with a hat trick to Hamish Carruthers and a double from Joel Stewart. Braces from Matthew Sanger and Matthew Mehrtens has seen Millwards Roofing FC Western sit in second by beating Cross Country Rentals NPBHS 2nd XI 4-2 at Webster Field. Novotel Woodleigh FC got their first points of the season with a big 5-0 win when hosting Peringa United Championship, Zane Biesiek getting a double. In the final match Western Autos Moturoa AFC played out a 2-2 draw with Cunningham Construction Kaitake FC with Mark Frost Electrical Ltd Hawera FC having the Bye.
Taranaki Men’s Division 1 – Round 2
CG Office Furniture FC Western Flaming Wolverines are sitting alone on the summit of the Taranaki Men’s Division 1 after they won 5-0 away against Smith & Sons Eltham AFC with Matt Lamb bagging two goals. Taranaki Thru Tubing NP Rangers AFC got their first points of the season as they defeated Elca Stainless Inglewood AFC 4-1 at Karo Park, Moturoa AFC Div1 drew 1-1 with KP Joinery Waitara SC and the Challenge Trophy match ended in a 2-2 stalemate when Shining Peak NP Rangers AFC Oddbodz hosted Smart Rehab & Physio Peringa United Ballers. Wonder Minerals Kaponga SC had the Bye.
Taranaki Men’s Division 2 – Round 2
Marty Suchy Harcourts FC Western have claimed the Challenge Trophy and remain on top of the table by winning 4-1 away to Webber Building Kaitake FC HB’s with last seasons Golden Boot winner Kayden Playle netting twice. McDonalds Real Estate Stratford AFC are equal on top after they secured a 5-0 away victory over Egmont Texturers NP Rangers AFC thanks to a hat trick from Ayshnal Reddy. In the last game two goals from Nitin Khare has helped Pipeline Peringa United get their first win of the season 3-0 over Withers Coachlines FDMC Senior Team.
Taranaki Men’s Division 3 – Round 2
Rob Mason Electrical Group Woodleigh FC continue to be on top of the pile after scoring a 4-1 home win over Waitara SC Div3, Phillip Rose bagging a brace. Philip Macarthur netted two goals for Inglewood AFC Div3 as they won a seven goal thriller 4-3 against Paul Hamlin Eltham AFC to remain in second. Moturoa AFC Div3 edged out Stratford AFC Reserves 3-2 with the final game ending in a 3-3 draw between Peringa United Socials and Orchard Contracting Ltd Hawera FC, Shannon Bryant scored a triple for Hawera with Daniel Clark bagging a brace for Peringa.
